I'm so glad to have found another Kindle reader! I tend to feel a little guilty for almost exclusively reading on Kindle, but the Libby app makes it so easy and the backlight and folding case mean I can read comfortably on my side in bed long after we turn out the beside lamps. I know it technically counts as another screen, but it really enables me to read more than I would otherwise. I'm definitely going to be adding some of your favorites you mentioned here to my TBR 🙌
I think I need to invest in a folding case! I got a cover and little strap to help me hold it but it falls off all the time so I've given up. Do you have one that you would recommend??
But same, I think about it all the time with having another screen! But it really does help to separate from my phone and laptop fully, I love being able to look up definitions or wikipedia historical context, and having a backlight is a game changer. I try to keep it on warm and the black background which I tell myself helps! lol
I also just finished Shark Heart btw!! Literally read it in like 3 days and only put it down because I needed breaks to be sad. Such a great rec!
The built-in dictionary is so handy and I do the same thing with the backlight! Also, pro tip, if you haven't discovered it already: You can turn off your Wifi and your Libby library books will stay until you turn it back on, so you can read them as long as you need to!
Ahh I'm so glad you liked it!! The breaks to be sad are so necessary with that one 🫶
Okay love all of this, thank you thank you! I've also been toying with the idea of one of those bluetooth page turners for maximum coziness in bed....will keep you posted. And that is SUCH a pro tip, I feel like there are so many times books are due in one day and it's just slightly too much than I can read in a night. Doing the lord's work here TY 🥲
The bluetooth page turners are very handy! I will say I find myself not using mine much when I'm reading in bed because I'm usually on my side and it has to clip onto the right side to turn the page. But that's a me problem haha I have friends who have them and love them.
Not burnt out at all…this may actually be the first true recap I’ve read? lol, I loved it. The dinner reservation tip is so genius! Also like the tip to always have a creativity or writing book you’re reading…I read more of those this year but my creativity definitely ebbed and flowed. I can see how having a book always nearby would help!
Lastly, just want to say, I’m grateful 2025 (and the powers that be of the internet) brought us together! 🙂🫶 Looking forward to more Half Life next year!
No but it's so funny you ask because I think I am soon! Tbh I fell back into most of my same habits within a month after finishing and so didn't feel like I was a great judge of how it went 😂 but now with the new year I'm feeling more refreshed and focused on what a good relationship with the internet can look like
Honestly I did really really love it and felt so amazing throughout the experience, so I really recommend it and am so excited for you to do it! I have to read your latest newsletter but I think you talk about it there?? I think my biggest failure with it is that I really didn't ease back into things like how he says in the book. I think he says to really slowly bring things back that you miss and set parameters around them, and I didn't do that at all so it meant everything just flooded back in the same as it had been. If I could go back and redo it, I'd be sure to be more diligent about that part!
Ah that makes a lot of sense! Making a mental note of that for mine. And I’m glad you felt it was worthwhile! 3 days in and I’m questioning if this will really make any difference hahah but it is early
A. The dinner reservations are everything. B. I’ll never be sick of your recaps.

Okay this is a pro tip, I also lay on my side too and I would have never thought of that!

Best comment ever 🥹 so so grateful to 2025 for bringing us together!!
Ok I keep meaning to ask, did you ever write about your experience with putting the digital minimalism cleanse into action? If so I missed it!

Ah that's ok (and only human!). I'm thinking about trying it myself this January soo I'd love to hear about your experience with it regardless!
